MATSITI is supporting the creation of a national Association of Australian Indigenous Lecturers in Initial Teacher Education (AILITEs).

Indigenous lecturers in Teacher Education perform a crucial role in preparing both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous teachers for the education workforce and are role models for younger generations.

Forming a national Association will increase the professional capacity of the group, by facilitating networking opportunities and providing peer support.

The AILITEs Executive met this week to discuss operational issues and the Association will be formally launched at a conference of all AILITEs, to be held in Adelaide on 29 September, one day prior to the MATSITI #OurMobTeach conference.
