The Aboriginal Leadership Scholarship Pilot (ALSP) Program will provide two Aboriginal teachers with the opportunity to participate in a structured leadership pathway program supported by outstanding school leaders.
These scholarships will be available from the beginning of 2013 to the end of 2014 to Aboriginal teachers employed by the Department for Education and Child Development.
The Program aims to support Aboriginal teachers who are aspiring to gain leadership experience and to increase the representation of Aboriginal teachers in a range of school-based leadership positions.
This scholarship is named after Narungga/Kaurna elder Dr Alitya Rigney, who was the first female Aboriginal principal in South Australia and worked in the education department for 32 years.
