[Applications now closed]

The South Australian Department for Education and Child Development (DECD) has announced that applications are open for the Amy Levai Aboriginal Teaching Scholarships for 2015.

Aboriginal pre-service teacher education students, who meet the eligibility criteria, are encouraged to apply.

Support will be provided to undertake a teacher education program and then gain employment as a teacher with the department.

DECD Aboriginal Teaching Scholarships were renamed in honour of Mrs (Aunty) Amy Levai to acknowledge her dedicated service to the children of South Australia throughout a teaching career spanning 35 years.

Aunty Amy awarded the first scholarships carrying her name in November 2012. Sadly Mrs Levai passed away in March 2013, however her memory will live on through these scholarships.

For further information on the scholarships and other Aboriginal education and employment initiatives see

Applications close Friday 10 October.
