Follow my Lead workshops are designed to build the capabilities of attendees who support students or clients with career and employment decision-making choices.
If you work as a career adviser, counsellor, teacher or as a teacher’s aide, you are in a position to benefit from participating in this workshop.

While mostly aimed at educators in secondary schools, teachers in the primary sector are also well placed to be role models and they will certainly gain skills, strategies and ideas to assist when working with students from diverse backgrounds particularly Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students, as will private career practitioners.
The workshop program has primarily been developed to support teachers and/or career advisors and will be delivered by Carole Theiley an Association Professional member, selected as the Role Model Leader for the state of South Australia. Everyone will receive a handbook as a future reference tool, which will include key information sources. Participation offers the opportunity to strengthen local networks by bringing teachers, career advisers, private practitioners and other people interested in career development together in a mutual learning opportunity. The full day workshop includes a networking break over a light lunch.
The material covered is a combination of approaches available for working with culturally diverse clients and covers the following aims and objectives:
Exploration of the diversity competency in career development
Consider how to become role models within the local community
Discuss cultural sensitivity in career activities
Assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to explore a career in teaching
