Deadly Dave and the Journey to Deputy Principalship
I now believe my Indigenous identity raises the profile of Indigenous people and perspectives in any school, regardless of the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
Dave Hartley is an inspiring Barunggam Deputy Principal with ancestral ties to Chinchilla, South-West Queensland, most recently in the spotlight due to his successful authorship with Indigenous rugby legend Scott Prince.
Together they produce the successful “Deadly D and Justice Jones” series with Magabala Books, focused on Māori Justice and his friend Dylan (Deadly D), an Aboriginal boy.
Imbued with his creativity and deep passion for learning, Dave hopes the books will continue to encourage Indigenous “reluctant readers” to read, and write.
