A number of scholarships are available to assist Aboriginal people to undertake study in education at Australian universities. A full listing is available from The Aspiration Initiative website.

For example, you may be eligible for a scholarship from the Victorian government, if you are an Aboriginal person currently working in a Victorian early childhood setting or primary school and you are heading to TAFE or university to gain a formal qualification in early childhood education.

A limited number of scholarships are also available for people who are not currently working in a Victorian early childhood setting that can demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working in one upon completion of the course.

This initiative aims to increase the number of qualified Aboriginal people working in Victorian early childhood settings. Attracting more Aboriginal people to work in Victorian early childhood settings and supporting existing Aboriginal educators to gain or upgrade an approved qualification will help to ensure the workforce reflects the diversity of Victoria’s population.
