University of Southern Queensland

Through exit interviews, the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is identifying factors that influence decisions why some Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander teacher education students leave teacher education study before completion.

Based on this evidence,  processes and procedures will be established to increase completion rates and retention of new teachers. This will involve a collaborative research partnership between the School of Teacher Education and Early Childhood, the School of Linguistics, Adult and Specialist Education, and the Centre for Australian Indigenous Knowledges (CAIK).

The project is supported by the MATSITI initiative and will conclude in October 2015.
